What are Veneers?

Porcelain Veneers Perth are one of the best cosmetic solutions used to help create your dream smile. Dental ceramic veneers are made of very thin, natural-looking material that is bonded to the surface of the teeth to improve their cosmetic appearance.

There are different options; choose between porcelain veneers, like tiny translucent shells, or composite resin veneers, where layers of resin are built up over the tooth.

At Aria Dental in the Perth CBD, we offer both porcelain veneers and composite resin. Both types of veneers have their benefits; however, porcelain veneers are considered the superior and advanced product, providing impressive longevity and beautiful aesthetic results. Lithium disilicate (brand name EMAX) is the preferred type of porcelain for our veneers. Multiple factors need to be considered in order to achieve an optimal outcome with a veneer rehabilitation. We will provide you with a comprehensive assessment and clear understanding of any challenges that need to be addressed to achieve an optimal outcome.

Alternatively, composite resin veneers can also provide excellent, natural-looking results. However, over time, they can start to lose their lustre and sheen. We find that many patients who have initially chosen composite veneers elect to have porcelain veneers when the time comes for renewal.

What are the benefits of porcelain veneers?

Veneers are incredibly lifelike today, making them difficult to detect from your natural teeth. Today’s porcelain veneers are extremely strong and durable, and although more expensive than other options, they are a sound investment, given the years of cosmetic improvement they provide. Veneers are placed in over a series of appointments with our cosmetic dentist, and you will leave with natural-looking, highly-aesthetically shaped teeth.

Dental veneers are a great option to correct any inconsistencies within your teeth. When conducting this procedure, we can:

  • Repair chipped or broken teeth

  • Cover stained or discoloured teeth

  • Hide damaged or worn teeth

  • Reduce small gaps in teeth

Am I a Candidate for Porcelain Veneers Perth?

Veneers are a cosmetic solution, not a therapeutic one, and are still a serious and permanent dental procedure. For your veneer procedure to be successful, you must have good oral hygiene and healthy gum tissue. Any existing dental problems, such as teeth straightening, will need to be completed before we place your dental veneers.

If you grind your teeth frequently (bruxism), porcelain veneers may not be suitable for you as you could potentially chip, break or even detach your veneers from your teeth. It is important to note that veneers are irreversible as the process requires the teeth to be shaved down to about ½ millimetre thick. The list of the positives does outweigh the negatives, but when considering veneers, you should be aware that this is a permanent commitment.

Porcelain Veneers

A life-like smile you wouldn’t want to hide

Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic surgical procedure that involves shaving down about ½ millimetre of your tooth and cementing a custom-made and custom-designed porcelain ‘shell’ to the front of your tooth. Porcelain veneers are strong and offer the highest level of aesthetic treatment to deliver you that Hollywood smile.

Composite Veneers

A cost-effective solution to mask cosmetic concerns.

Similar to porcelain veneers, composite veneers are thin, custom-made acrylic shells designed to be bonded to the surface of your natural teeth. These veneers can successfully mask chipped, discoloured, or cracked teeth. The procedure can be completed in a few appointments with minimal preparation required.

Composite veneers are a more affordable option than their porcelain counterparts, and they take less time to create. However, composite veneers don’t last as long compared to porcelain veneers, requiring more frequent upkeep.

Cosmetic Bonding

Quick improvements in a short space of time

Cosmetic bonding is a conservative treatment option whereby aesthetic tooth-coloured materials are used to replace missing tooth structures or to hide minor tooth defects. The treatment can be used to repair small chips, fix discolouring, make changes to the shape of your teeth, or fix minor spacing irregularities, fractures, tooth wear, and dental decay.

Cosmetic bonding is an inexpensive dental process and can be completed in as little as a single visit, depending on your requirements. It is often a great first step in improving your smile for a minimum cost.

Veneers aftercare

Veneers are permanent, but they’re not forever. Veneers could last for about 15 to 20 years, at which point they’ll need to be replaced. Although it happens infrequently, veneers can de-bond or break off. If this were to happen, depending on the situation, your dentist may be able to re-cement it, or you may have to replace your damaged veneer.

To keep your veneers looking amazing, you must commit to going to the dentist a minimum of twice a year for cleaning. You also need to maintain your oral health hygiene by brushing and flossing twice daily. Veneers are a big investment and commitment that you have to take care of. If you do not, you’ll need to replace them sooner. And yes, you can still get decay and require fillings!

How much do dental veneers cost?

The level of customisation you choose and the type of veneers will determine the cost of your veneers. Each veneer at Aria Dental is handcrafted by our master ceramist and will undergo hours of work per tooth. You can expect to have several temporary tries in veneer teeth before you receive your final veneers. Veneers are typically quoted on a per-tooth basis, with top-of-the-range porcelain veneer costs ranging from $2,000 – $2,500 per tooth. The cost becomes cheaper the more veneers you have and depends on your outcome goals. Typically, veneer treatments are delivered in sets of 4, 6, or 8 teeth.
