Dr Michael Zaninovich

Aria Dental’s specialist dental implant surgery is the home to Western Australian Principal Prosthodontist Dr Michael Zaninovich.

Dr Michael Zaninovich is a registered prosthodontist with a clinical and research focus on aesthetic implant and complex prosthodontic rehabilitation. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. During his three-year postgraduate residency, he was mentored by Dr Vladimir Hotinski, which strongly shaped his approach to advanced restorative and implant care.

Since completing his specialist training, Dr Zaninovich’s clinical practice has been limited to surgical and prosthodontic treatment, with a particular emphasis on full-mouth and implant rehabilitation. At Aria Dental, he works within a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care for patients.

Dr Zaninovich graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2004, receiving the Dental School Dean’s Award and the Endodontics Prize in his final year. He relocated to Perth in 2005 and spent six years in private general practice, where his interest in implant dentistry and complex rehabilitation developed, before completing his specialist training and Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

He has received multiple best presentation awards at national and international scientific meetings, including the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, where he was awarded first prize on three occasions, and was a finalist at the American Academy of Osseointegration. In 2012, he was awarded best presentation at the Academy of Australian and New Zealand Prosthodontists Biennial Meeting for his research examining the wear characteristics of ceramic restorations opposing natural tooth structure and restorative materials. He has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals, and has presented both locally and internationally.

Dr Zaninovich’s current clinical focus is advanced aesthetic and full-mouth reconstruction, with particular expertise in ceramic full-arch gum-set implant reconstructions. While implant solutions such as All-on-4 are an established component of modern implant dentistry, his specialist practice is centred on comprehensive full-mouth ceramic reconstructions. These treatments involve a higher level of restorative complexity and precision, and are directed toward achieving superior long-term functional, aesthetic, and biological outcomes in complex rehabilitation cases.
