When will I see the results?

It generally takes between 3 -10 days after the treatment for the maximum to develop fully and re-treatment should not occur within that period. The effect generally lasts three to four months, although with regular treatments it may be possible to reduce the dosage. Unfortunately, this type of treatment can be less effective for people over 60 due to poorer muscle tone.

Muscle Relaxant Injection Treatments

If you’re suffering with Bruxism, TMJ dysfunction or are searching for a way to remove your Gummy smile, muscle relaxant injection treatments will greatly improve and potentially even eliminate the conditions. With training, Dentists qualify to administer muscle relaxants to the face, due to their superior knowledge of facial anatomy.

At Aria Dental, we use muscle relaxant injections to treat several medically related dental issues. Teeth grinding and other problems relating to the jaw can be managed with muscle-relaxant injections. Relaxing the muscles in the jaw can alleviate pain caused by overuse. The following are the most treated with cosmetic injections – TMJ dysfunction, Bruxism and Gummy smiles

How will muscle relaxant injection treatments help me?

Muscle relaxants & Botox injection treatments work by blocking the chemical signal that the brain sends to the muscle telling the muscle to contract. In effect the treatment relaxes and lifts the muscle.

TMJ

Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) dysfunction, more commonly known as TMJ, causes pain and impairment in the jaw joint, as well as the muscles that control jaw movement. As a result, patients may experience a variety of symptoms including muscle spasms, pain and the inability to open one’s mouth fully. Additionally, the condition causes tension headaches around the joint, migraines and ear aches. The injections will help stop the spams, elevating the symptoms.

Bruxism

Bruxism is the medical term for teeth grinding and jaw clenching. While many people experience the condition at night while sleeping, but it can also occur during the day. It’s caused by excessive activation of the masseter muscle, which results in jaw pain. The masseter muscle controls biting and contracts at the back of the jaw when you bite. Other problems experienced include wearing down of teeth causing sensitivity, flattening or chipping of teeth, loss of tooth enamel, limited ability chewing and even changes in facial appearance. The injections soften and weaken the masseter muscle, which provides relief of jaw pain, headaches and migraines.

Gummy Smile

Gummy Smile is a smile / lips that rise too high and display an excessive amount of gum tissue. Injections are placed on the upper lip, making the muscles weaker. This prevents you from raising the upper lip as much, so that the gums are not visible, given you a more natural (less gummy) smile.
