What is All-on-4?
All-on-4 is not an invention, but rather a treatment technique that has continued to evolve over time. The term All-on-4 refers to “all” teeth being supported “on four” implants, a surgical procedure for the total rehabilitation of a patient’s badly broken-down teeth, decayed teeth or compromised teeth. The four implants support a fixed full-arch prosthesis with 10 to 14 teeth.
The All on 4 implants concept itself, allowed the total rehabilitation of a full set of teeth supported by as few as four fixtures. This allowed clinicians to avoid bone-deficient areas by placing implants into ‘healthy bone’ dense areas where the implant fixture could successfully osseointegrate into the jawbone.
Two implants are placed at the front, with two at the back, placed at a slight angle, providing enough structural support to hold a full, fixed set of new prosthetic teeth. As there are fewer implant fixtures placed, it provides a faster and less invasive option. The natural-looking teeth are fixed in your jawbone enabling you to not only look good, feel good but also function very similar to your natural teeth.
